Basic Area Settings Sub-Elements

Elements, attributes, and possible values

<basicareasettings>

Path: <area><settings><basicareasettings>

Contains basic area settings.

Handling of the +/- sign

<show_dk_profit>

Path: <area><settings><basicareasettings><show_dk_profit>

The parameter definitions are inherited, for example, from a report to a drill-down template.

Defines how debit and credit values are shown on input templates and reports for scalable income accounts. Applies to all accounts which have sign handling setting Profit.

By default (if this parameter is not used in the input or report template definition file), figures are shown as they appear in the database multiplied by the D/C code of the account (debit +1 or credit -1). Note that intragroup items are multiplied by -1 when saved into the database and retrieved to an input template.

For more information and examples of the parameter usage, see Examples for Using show_dk Parameter.

Possible values:

  • no: All figures are shown on the input and report template as they appear in the database multiplied by the account's D/C code (debit +1 or credit -1).

    A positive figure means the default balance of the account (debit/credit)

  • sign: All figures are shown on the input and report template as they appear in the database.

    A positive figure means the debit balance of the account (negative = credit)

  • inverted sign: All figures are shown in the input and report template as multiplied by - 1.

    A positive figure means the credit balance of the account (negative = debit)

<show_dk_balance>

Path: <area><settings><basicareasettings><show_dk_balance>

Defines how debit and credit values are shown on input templates and reports for scalable balance accounts. Applies to accounts which have sign handling setting Balance.

  • sign: All figures are shown on the input and report template as they appear in the database.

  • inverted sign: All figures are shown in the input and report template as multiplied by – 1.

The parameter definitions are inherited, for example, from a report to a drill-down template.

<show_dk_other>

Path: <area><settings><basicareasettings><show_dk_other>

Defines how debit and credit values are shown on input templates and reports for scalable other accounts. Applies to accounts which have sign handling setting Other.

By default (if this parameter is not used in the input or report template definition file), figures are shown as they appear in the database multiplied by the D/C code of the account's (debit +1 or credit -1).

  • sign: All figures are shown on the input and report template as they appear in the database.

  • inverted sign: All figures are shown in the input and report template as multiplied by – 1.

The parameter definitions are inherited, for example, from a report to a drill-down template.

Handling of currencies

<currency>

Path: <area><settings><basicareasettings><currency>

Defines the currency used for calculation. Only used for numeric data fields (not for 'extra' or 'formula' fields; see <datafield>). In input, the <currency> element can be used only when the amount type is group (<datafield><numeric amount="group">). In reporting, the <currency> element can be used with both values of the amount attribute (group and unit). See Currency Conversion for an overview of currency conversion with different <currency> element and amount attribute settings.

The <currency> element in reports is inherited to drill-down and TR templates. If the drill-down and TR templates include their own <currency> elements, these definitions are stronger.

Converting with cumulative currency rates is not possible in Transparent Reporting when all invoices are shown. In this case an error message is shown to the user. When documents are shown by periods, converting with cumulative currency rates is possible.

Input and reporting is possible in a third currency (some other currency than unit or group currency) when the <currency> element is defined in the basic area or data column settings. The <currency> element defined in the data column settings is stronger than the one defined in the basic area setting. If the <currency> element is not defined in the data column settings, its value is inherited from the basic area settings. If the <currency> element is also missing also from the basic area settings, no currency conversions will be performed.

Possible values:

  • Identifier of the currency

  • Variable %USERCURRENCY%: The identifier of the currency selected in the input or report template Advanced Options tab (group currency, unit currency, or a third currency).

<currency_conversion_dimension>

Path: <area><settings><basicareasettings><currency_conversion_dimension>

<show_deleted accounts>

Path: <area><settings><basicareasettings><show_deleted_accounts>

<sum_by_accno>

Path: <area><settings><basicareasettings><sum_by_accno>

Not in use.

<drilldown_action>

Path: <area><settings><basicareasettings><drilldown_action>

Defines whether the account statement function is used in the area. With the account statement function users can enter data to type 2 document series (for example, 20000) by drilling down.

The account statement function can be used in predefined type input templates (<presentationtype>predefined</presentationtype> in area settings), but not in retrievefromdata type templates (<presentationtype>retrievefromdata</presentationtype>).

Possible values:

  • normal: The account statement function is not used in the area. This is the default value.

  • account_statement: The account statement function is used in the area.

<drilldown_copyformula>

Path: <area><settings><basicareasettings><drilldown_copyformula>

Sets a template to behave so that the internal transactions opened as drill-down rows get the same formula as set for the main account level cell.

Possible values:

  • true

  • false (default)

The setting has effect only if <area><settings><basicareasettings><drilldown_action>=account_statement (such as account statement drill-down for internal transactions) is in use in the same template

<add_accounts_from_excel>

Path: <area><settings><basicareasettings><add_accounts_from_excel>

Defines whether the definitions made in the Excel template overrides the definitions made in the xml definitions, for example, when fetching account data.

To increase the performance, the parameter can be used to basic reports which have maximum of 200 accounts defined in the Excel file of the template. If more than 200 accounts are defined, performance may decrease due to too many accounts.

add_accounts_from_excel element must be defined to all areas of the sheet. Areas without the parameter remain empty.

Possible values:

  • true

  • false (default)

<hide_sum_accounts>

Path: <area><settings><basicareasettings><hide_sum_accounts>

Defines whether sum rows are shown or hidden. Used in reconciliation reports.

Possible values:

  • true

  • false (default)

Examples for Using show_dk Parameter

This topic describes three examples for using the show_dk parameter.

The show_dk parameters only apply to scalable accounts.

Default Case

By default (if the show_dk parameter is not used in the input or report template definition file), figures are shown on input and report templates as they appear in the database multiplied by the D/C code of the account (debit +1 or credit -1).
